SBDC Client Success Story – Allied Global Security Services

Idea into reality

Fnu Hekmatullah has been a security guard for over four years. He noticed a rise in logistic centers in the Inland Empire in which he saw an opportunity to start his own security company. In June 2020, he reached out to the Inland Empire SBDC for assistance with obtaining the proper licenses and permits for his startup. As an immigrant, he also shared the challenge he had with the language and asked for a more hands-on approach to our services.

Assitance provided by IESBDC

Annie Zheng, IE SBDC Business Consultant, assessed the client’s situation and outlined the various licenses and permits that he will need to launch his security business. In his industry, the first item that is required is the Fictitious Business Name (FBN). Annie assisted Mr. Hekmatullah with the County of Riverside’s FBN electronic application, publishing the registration in the newspaper, and mailing the completed form to the County. After one month, the client received his FBN from the County which allowed him to receive the CA Private Patrol Operator License from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. The Consultant also assisted the client with his City of Riverside business license application, Workers’ Compensation insurance, and developing a marketing plan.

The Results

As a result of the services provided by the IE SBDC, Fnu Hekmatullah launched his sole proprietorship: Allied Global Security Services and began accepting business as a self-employed Private Patrol Operator. Additionally, in early 2021, he started receiving bid invitations from general contractors for his service.
