Team Muscle Tonic Relief wins third annual Innovation Challenge at CSUSB

Kinesiology major Jessica Heredia and business administration major Javier Lechuga were the winners of the third annual CSUSB Innovation Challenge, winning a $10,000 prize.

The students, working with Guillermo Escalante, a Cal State San Bernardino associate professor in the kinesiology department, were one of six teams who pitched their business plans to a panel of judges to compete for $20,000 in cash prizes, which was held on May 23 at the Santos Manuel Student Union Theater.

Heredia and Lechuga successfully pitched Muscle Tonic, a two-ounce, ready-to-drink shot specifically designed to offer long-term and short-term solutions to relieve painful muscle cramps often experienced by hardworking athletes as well as the general public who wake up with painful night cramps.

Second place honors went to Wing-It-Social Media Platform with third place going to Social Disorder Game.

Also honored during the event was the Kinesiology Student Association, which won the Outstanding Organization Award.

The Innovation Challenge, presented by the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship, gives CSUSB students, faculty, staff and alumni an opportunity to team up and present cutting-edge business solutions that will change the CSUSB campus, community or possibly the world. All teams must include a CSUSB student and a minimum of two different colleges and/or divisions.
